Miriam Dehne is a European filmmaker and writer who studied design at the Berlin University of the Arts before turning to film, television, and theater. Her work has been presented at inter-national festivals, in theaters, on television, digital platforms, and has received numerous honors.

Dehne wrote and directed the feature films Stadt als Beute and Little Paris — both pre-nominated for the GermanFilmAward, including in the categories of BestSoundtrack and BestSupportingActress. The music film B-Movie: Lust & Sound in West Berlin 1979-89, for which she directed the numerous scenes, was awarded the Heiner Carow Prize from the DEFA Foundation.

Music is an important element that runs through Dehne’s entire body of work — from the mu-sical film Somewhere in Berlin for the pop duo Rosenstolz, to her collaborations with the Berlin musicians 2Raumwohnung. With They Call Us Candygirls, she created Germany’s first scripted web series while her play Moms Room premiered in Los Angeles in 2014.

Alongside screenwriting, Miriam directs documentaries for various German television networks and lends her creative invention to the roles of story producer and showrunner on numerous new-media network formats, including the RTL show Let’s Dance. As a pilot director, she has developed the visual language for several Sat.1 daily dramas, including Die Landarztpraxis, setting the visual and tonal framework that a larger directing team then was then able to carry forward over hundreds of episodes.

In 2021, Dehne directed the ZDF TV Movie Die Sterntaler des Glücks and in 2022/24 directed episodes of the series Soko Potsdam and Soko Stuttgart, among others.

Miriam is currently developing an FFA-supported feature film Her Last Take, inspired by the biographies of international ageless icons.

In 2026, the series Selling Sex — on which Miriam serves as creator, head writer, and director

— had its world premiere at the Munich Film Festival and will have its official release on the ARD Mediathek in late August.

Miriam Dehne has been a member of the GermanFilmAcademy since 2008 and has been hon-ored to serve on the panel of Germany’sfederalfilmfundingbody (BKM). She also participated in the Award for Young Film Art from the Neue Nationalgalerie as a jury member and was a recent guest lecturer at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf.
